Trends: Case Shiller Data, September 2012
Each month, the Case Shiller Indices come out and give us data on trends in the real estate market. This month’s numbers (which are actually numbers from July, since these reports are published on a two-month lag) were just released, and overall it’s good news.
This report uses data from a 10-city survey and a 20-city survey, and this report indicates an increase in home prices. That’s good news, because it likely means the real estate market is stabilizing. They report that inventory is down (which we’re definitely seeing in Portland) and sales are up.
In Portland, the Case Shiller report data shows a seasonally-adjusted 0.7% price increase.
